Who we are

ICPE Mission Singapore – Earthen Vessels Catholic Community (ICPE Mission Singapore – EVCC)  was established in 1996 as a community of young adults with a shared purpose of running retreats and formation programmes. We are part of the Institute of World Evangelisation – ICPE Mission that was canonically recognised as a private international association of the faithful of pontifical right on the 19th of May 2002. As an international community for worship and evangelisation, we share in the one covenant to carry out our mission in the world as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing greatness of the power may be of God and not from ourselves.”
– 2 Corinthians 4:7

We are a community of ordinary folks who hold jobs and manage daily affairs just like most people you would know – making difficult choices like work, finances and parenting coupled with sickness, losses and job uncertainties. Yet we are called to live our holiness daily and transform the world.

We have come to realise that our faith is not dichotomised from our realities; our mission field is in our daily arenas, stables where we interact with family members and colleagues. When we are intentional, God speaks in the ordinary and seemingly mundane. We have many such stories to share. These are the stories that have sustained us over the years.

“People today put more trust in witnesses than in teachers, in experience than in teaching, and in life and action than in theories.”
– 42, Redemptorist Missio

We believe these stories of God’s faithfulness are meant to be shared and witnessed. As we share our stories, we seek to touch lives so that Christ’s glory can be made visible.

Our monthly community meetings consist of worship and sharing of the Word. Between community meetings we meet as small groups in one another’s homes to pray for one another and break bread with our lives.  We also meet every morning (virtually) to pray the Divine Office and to intercede for the needs of our community, family and friends.  We use this time to pray for our Church, our priests, religious and lay missionary communities as well as for the needs of the world.
